Elk Rapids Area Historical Society to Publish New Book
The Elk Rapids Area Historical Society is pleased to announce plans to publish a new history book in late 2020 titled “It’s All About the Water: A History of the Elk Rapids Area.” Targeted as a companion to Glenn Ruggles and Glenn Neumann’s “The First Hundred Years,” the new book will feature stories that describe the unique history of Elk Rapids as it emerged from its pioneer past to become a thriving coastal community through its lifelong connection to Lake Michigan and the Chain of Lakes. As a tribute to those who made it all possible, “It’s All About the Water” will also feature many biographical family stories. The Society and book editor Jackie Weber welcome contributions of words and photographs from residents who live in the Elk Rapids community. Families wishing to be included may contact Jackie Weber at jweber4205@charter.net or P.O. Box 762, Elk Rapids, MI 49629 for submission guidelines and also to schedule a photo scanning session. Sessions are being held on Tuesday afternoons by appointment at the History Museum located at 301 Traverse St. in Elk Rapids.
Advanced orders for the planned 400-page, 8 ½” x 11” publication will be offered at a special pre-publication price before the book is submitted for manufacture.
