Job Description
The DAM Shop, located at Elk Rapids Marina, is currently seeking to fill the position of General Manager to oversee all business operations in this year-round food, beverage and retail business.
The GM is responsible for overall operational excellence and all other aspects of profit and loss, hiring and training of both management and hourly members, daily execution of safety/sanitation, quality food preparation, and guest service. Responsible for communicating and administrating all company, policies, and procedures. The GM is also responsible Marketing, HR and general office duties including banking, payroll. This position reports directly to Ownership.
The DAM Shop is a counter service bar & indoor food truck featuring breakfast, lunch & dinner options, combined with a house curated grab n go deli, full-service espresso bar & retail marine pro shop. The DAM Shop serves as a fun, local, family friendly destination & community hub for locals and visitors alike both inside and outdoor on the large patio. The DAM Shop also hosts private events, community & Marina functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee food, bar and retail operations to achieve sales and profit goals, including hourly labor. Maintain regular communication with ownership to ensure operational objectives are being met.
  • Monitor daily and monthly reporting via Clover.
  • Review and analyze, monthly P&L and communicate results to managers. Develop plans to impact areas of opportunity.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Oversee managers to maintain high standards of food and beverage quality and outstanding guest experience.
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment. Responsible for all documentation of guest and team member incidents.
  • Organize, plan and execute promotion of company events and products via social media, web channels & print media.
  • Assist managers in hiring, coaching, development, training, and promoting a continuous learning environment.
  • Regularly evaluate the degree of customer experience and implement procedures where needed.
  • Work with the Food & Beverage manager in creating, accurately costing, and implementing sales, menus for regular dining, and special events.
  • Ensure that all food, beverage, bar and shop supplies are ordered utilizing the highest quality products at the best prices on the market.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations to maintain appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all areas of the business.
  • Adhere to Federal, State, and local laws in addition to Company policy. Regulate compliance with liquor service/wage and hour laws. Hold managers and team accountable to these standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all financial and personnel/payment related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time & in accordance with company policy and procedure & state and federal compliance.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Must have strong interpersonal and administrative skills and be proficient in Word and Excel
  • Experience in Retail Operations
  • Proven track record of team management, organizational and coaching skills in Food and Beverage, including front and back of house.
  • Solid understanding of private event & catering revenue generation
  • Community Engagement and Relationship Building to increase brand awareness.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of expense control as it relates to payroll and forecasting
  • Experience with purchasing and inventory systems. Clover experience a plus.
  • Creative menu development skills
  • Experience implementing new food and beverage ideas and concepts

Expected Hours of Work:
This job is a salaried position with traditional northern Michigan seasonal spikes in work activity/hours. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
