Come meet local watercolor artist, Elizabeth Manning, from Two Hoots Studio at WaterFire on Sunday, October 8th from 1-5 PM. She is going to have a display of her work and some items for sale. She is also going to bring her watercolor backpack full of materials. If the opportunity comes up she could do a demonstration, show off some of her work in progress, or give someone one-on-one tips and techniques. She is going to come prepared to spend an anything-goes, artful afternoon at WaterFire. Come have a chat with her and see where the day goes!
About Elizabeth:
Elizabeth Manning lives in Bellaire, MI where she draws inspiration for her art from the woods and natural places around her home. She considers herself a “Michigan transplant” as she grew up in New York state and feels Michigan is the home she never knew she always wanted. Before moving to Michigan Elizabeth worked as a teacher and before that as an actor and scenic designer in the theater. She combines these experiences with her passion for painting to create engaging watercolors and other art classes in Northern Michigan.
The natural world is Elizabeth’s biggest inspiration, whether she paints a beloved Michigan landmark like the expansive and awe-inspiring views of Pyramid Point, or an intimate portrait of native garden plants and the pollinators they attract. A love for Michigan’s wild natural places, critters, and plants are core of her artwork. While much of her professional work is completed in her home studio, you can often find Elizabeth with her “art backpack” out on the hiking trails of Michigan doing plein air studies.
