The Artist is a 2011 Oscar winning French comedy-drama done in the style of a 1920s-30s era silent film directed by Michel Hazanavicius and starring Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo. The story takes place in Hollywood, between 1927 and 1932, and focuses on the relationship between a rising young actress and an older silent film star as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by the "talkies". The film won five Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor.

The film will be accompanied by Andrew Rogers on our ‘Mighty’ Wurlitzer theater organ. Rogers, a Detroit native, is an organist at the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor. He also scores and performs silent films and performs concerts throughout the U.S. and Internationally.
