G.T. Butterfly House & Bug Zoo Celebrates 10 Years!
8840 M-72 East, Williamsburg, MI.
It's a new season full of family friendly fun learning about Butterflies and Bugs! The walk-through exhibits feature a Tropical Butterfly Garden, with hundreds of the world's most exotic butterflies dancing in flight among a garden packed with blooming flowers.
The Bug Zoo is buzzing with excitement! Our Honeybee Observation Hive greets visitors right inside the Zoo, where you can peek inside a working hive. The Tarantula Tree highlights some of our favorite tarantula species, while Beetle Boulder is filled with unique beetles and some of their arthropod friends including giant millipedes and the largest roach in the world.
Take time to explore Duke Elsner's Crawl Space, an exhibit featuring collected insect specimens from our resident Entomologist, Dr. Duke Elsner. As a Traverse City local, Dr. Elsner has collected thousands of species and has played a vital role in providing education on native insects, with a different theme each year to entertain returning visitors. The Zoo's amphibian collection is helping people connect the need for insects to support the animals dependent on them....Including us!
Open May 1st – Labor Day, G.T. Butterfly House & Bug Zoo offers self-guided tours daily from 10am - 4:30pm, 30 minutes prior to closing. We are a barrier free facility.
