ART BEAT!
Elk Rapids initiates our 19th annual summer of fun with ART BEAT of Elk Rapids on
Saturday, June 1st from 10am to 5pm.
Three of Northern Michigan's award winning, fine art galleries will be joined by Art & Connection in Elk Rapids to host our 19th annual art walk.
Come visit all four galleries for art demonstrations, special prize giveaways, drawings for gift certificates, refreshments, and more!
Four $100 gift certificates will be drawn from those visiting all four locations during the day.
Mullaly's 128 Studio & Gallery, enjoying its 32nd year representing excellence in fine art, is located on River Street in downtown Elk Rapids. Mullaly's offers the finest selection of high-quality glass in Northern Michigan and has been recognized as the finest jewelry gallery in the area. Mullaly's 128 will be hosting Kalamazoo acrylic artist Kate Moynihan throughout the day, while she demonstrates her paintings of nature subjects.
Blue Heron Gallery, located east of Route 31 on Ames Street for 23 years, showcases hundreds of Michigan artists with the largest collection of paintings in the area. Gallery owner Dan Reszka, widely known for his watercolors, will be demonstrating in the morning, and will have a drawing for some of his artwork. In addition, artist Anne Benington will demonstrate her watercolors from 11 to 2 and Teresa Gaudino will demonstrate her oil paintings from 12 to 3pm.
Twisted Fish Gallery, located south of Elk Rapids along Route 31, has been serving artists and collectors for 21 years, and features many large paintings, and an outdoor sculpture garden. The Gallery will be holding an hourly gift certificate drawing and will host many artists for you to meet as they demonstrate their work from 10 am to 4pm.
In their second year of operations, Art & Connection located near the corner of Route 31 and Elk Lake Road joins Art Beat for the first time. As a non-profit art center, they provide free art classes and other creative experiences within our community and beyond. During Art Beat, Art & Connection will be showing art by local artists who do not have gallery representation.
